Course Information
This course provides guidance on how to view and assess various daylight metrics
The first two series of lessons will take you step by step through how to generate different images and run calculate different daylight metrics in the VE.
You will learn how to:
- Set location, time and date, material properties, shading, and adjacent buildings
- Generate lux, Daylight Glare Probability (DGP), and daylight factor information
- Test natural and electric lighting systems
- Produce photo-realistic images
- Produce plots of daylight levels, daylight factors, and threshold areas
- Compare against LEED, BREEAM, and BB87 thresholds
The following lessons demonstrate:
- Photosensor Control Systems & Building Energy Simulation
- Calculations & Visualizations for CBDM (Climate Based Daylight Modelling)
- UDI (Useful daylight illuminance)
- sDA (Spatial daylight autonomy)
Why Choose DAYLIGHT Course?
-
Comprehensive Guidance
The "DAYLIGHT" course offers comprehensive guidance on viewing and assessing various daylight metrics. From setting location and time parameters to understanding material properties, shading, and adjacent buildings, the course takes you through each step with clarity.
-
Hands-On Learning
The first two series of lessons provide hands-on experience in generating different images and calculating various daylight metrics within the VE (Virtual Environment). This practical approach ensures that participants not only understand the theoretical concepts but also gain practical skills in daylight analysis.
-
Diverse Metrics Coverage
Participants will learn to generate important metrics such as lux levels, Daylight Glare Probability (DGP), and daylight factor information. The course goes beyond basics to cover advanced topics like Photosensor Control Systems, Building Energy Simulation, and calculations for Climate Based Daylight Modelling (CBDM).
-
Advanced Daylighting Concepts
The "DAYLIGHT" course delves into advanced daylighting concepts like Useful Daylight Illuminance (UDI) and Spatial Daylight Autonomy (sDA). These are cutting-edge methodologies that are increasingly becoming integral to modern building design, making the course relevant to contemporary industry needs.
